The program’s scheduled series against the Cavaliers, set for 2027 and 2028, is now off, per Michael Niziolek.
Indiana football’s nonconference home-and-home series against Virginia, originally set for 2027 and 2028, has been cancelled, according to reporting from Mike Niziolek from the Herald-Times:
Indiana football has canceled the home-and-home series it had scheduled for 2027 and 2028 against UVA, games were originally agreed to back in 2021 https://t.co/afqbl6hvd5

The series was agreed upon back in 2021. At the time, Big Ten programs were required to schedule at least one power conference opponent in the nonconference slate.
The matchup in Charlottesville, Virginia, originally set for 2027, has reportedly been replaced by a matchup with Kennesaw State, according to a report from the Sentinel, KSU’s student newspaper.
It’s not the first nonconference series Indiana has backed out of. The program was set to face Louisville in a neutral site game in Indianapolis before home and away matchups in the ensuing years. That series was cancelled in 2023, with the matchup in Indianapolis, a win for the Cardinals, being the only game played.
Indiana’s next confirmed power nonconference opponent is Notre Dame. The two programs are scheduled to meet in a home-and-home in 2030 and 2031.
