On Saturday afternoon, the Indiana Hoosiers hosted the Michigan Wolverines in a must-win contest for Jim Harbaugh and company.
Michigan entered as a slight favorite, despite playing on the road against an undefeated program. Unfortunately for the oddsmakers, Indiana didn’t get the memo that it was supposed to be the underdog.
The Hoosiers jumped out to a commanding lead thanks to dynamic quarterback Michael Penix Jr. The star quarterback has completed 30-of-46 passes for 342 yards and three touchdowns.
His favorite target on the afternoon is wide receive Whop Philyor. The talented wide receiver has 11 receptions for 79 yards through the first three quarters of play this far.
While his play on the field has been great, it’s his name that is going viral. His birth name is Mister Elias De’Angelo Philyor but he goes by “Whop.”
Why? Well, because of his love for Burger King’s Whoppers, of course. According to FOX Sports, Philyor loved Whoppers so much as a kid, his parents nicknamed him Whop.
The story behind Whop Philyor’s name is elite 😅

The nickname stuck and the rest is history.
Philyor’s name has been mentioned endlessly over the first three quarters of play this afternoon. He – and the rest of the Hoosiers receivers – are torching the Michigan corners today.
Indiana holds a 31-21 lead with just under 14 minutes left to go in the fourth quarter. Can the Hoosiers hang on or will Michigan complete the comeback?
