Indiana cornerback Jaylin Williams was arrested on preliminary charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated and endangerment early Saturday morning.
According to jail records, Williams was arrested near the intersection of 17th and Dunn Street, which is just a few hundred feet from Memorial Stadium. He was booked into Monroe County Jail at 1:33 a.m. on charges of OWI with a blood alcohol content greater than .08 and less than .15, as well as OWI endangerment, which are both misdemeanors.
Williams is 20 years old. He will turn 21 on Feb. 26.
His bond was set at $1,000, according to jail records. He posted bond and was released at 7:04 a.m. Saturday.
Williams was a second-team All-Big Ten selection in 2020. The junior from Memphis, Tenn., tied for the team lead with four interceptions. He also collected 30 tackles.
IU released a statement on the arrest, saying “Indiana University Athletics and the IU football program are aware of the arrest of Jaylin Williams. IU Athletics will continue to gather facts, cooperate with and monitor the legal process, and take further action as the evolving situation warrants.”
