Indiana is taking its starting quarterback decision, or at least the announcement of it, right down to the wire.
IU head coach Tom Allen told reporters today that he’s made up his mind between Brendan Sorsby and Tayven Jackson, but won’t announce the winner of the QB competition before the season opener against Ohio State.
The Hoosiers are set to face the Buckeyes in Week 1.

Sorsby, a Texas native, appeared in one game for the Hoosiers last fall. Against Penn State, he completed 3-of-6 passes for eight yards.
Jackson, meanwhile, spent last season at Tennessee before transferring back home to IU. The Greenwood, Ind. native played in three games for the Vols, completing 3-of-4 passes for 37 yards and rushing four times for 10 yards and a score.
The two have been battling to replace Connor Bazelak, who was Indiana’s starting quarterback in 2022 after three seasons at Missouri. Bazelak has since moved on to Bowling Green.
The Hoosiers are coming off a 4-8 campaign in 2022 after a 2-10 showing in 2021. Indiana’s season opener at home against Ohio State is set for Sept. 2 at 3:30 p.m. ET.
