Makalusky joined Sydney Parrish as Royals and Hoosiers to win the state’s top basketball honor.
Maya Makalusky, an Indiana women’s basketball signee in the incoming class of 2025, was named the winner of the state’s Miss Basketball award on Wednesday.
Makalusky, whose career at Hamilton Southeastern High School in Fishers, Indiana, wrapped up this year, shot 40% from deep during her four years at the high school level. She broke current Indiana senior Sydney Parrish’s career scoring record at HSE with 1,933 career points as a Royal. Parrish herself won Miss Basketball honors in 2020.
She committed to join the Hoosiers in the summer of 2023 and signed her national letter of intent with the program this past November alongside fellow commit Nevaeh Caffey. Makalusky is rated as a 4-star recruit by ESPN and is considered to be one of the best shooters available in the class of 2025.
That will be more than welcome in Bloomington, where Teri Moren has prioritized perimeter shooting in recent years during the program’s rise.
