Indiana men’s basketball offers 2027 5-star guard Martay Barnes

Barnes is the 15th highest-rated prospect in the class of 2027, per 247Sports.

Indiana men’s basketball has extended a scholarship offer to Martay Barnes, a 5-star shooting guard in the class of 2027, according to Barnes’ social media:

Barnes currently attends The Academy of Central Florida in Orlando, Florida and for Austin Rivers SE Elite, Austin Rivers’ team on the 3Stripes Select Basketball circuit for adidas. He holds scholarship offers from Kansas, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Cincinnati and Florida State.

It’s worth noting that Barnes’ Cincinnati offer came after the departure of Drew Adams to Indiana, not before.

As of this writing, Barnes is the 25th highest rated overall prospect and second highest-rated shooting guard in the country, per the 247Sports composite. That makes him a 5-star. This is a recruitment that’s only going to heat up in the coming months and years, so getting an offer in early and starting the process of relationship building could serve Indiana well down the road.
