Another one gone.

Indiana men’s basketball wing Mackenzie Mgbako has entered the transfer portal, per Joe Tipton.

NEWS: Indiana forward Mackenzie Mgbako has entered the transfer portal, he told @On3sports.

Mgbako also confirmed the news on his Instagram account.

The former five-star recruit was the highest-rated signing of the Mike Woodson era, committing to the Hoosiers over Kansas after decommitting from Duke.

Mgbako got off to a slow start to his freshman season, but grew more confident as the year went on and his shots started to fall. He started all 33 games that year, averaging 12.2 points per game on 32.7% shooting from deep in a campaign that earned him Big Ten freshman of the year.

Expectations were high for Mgbako entering his sophomore season, but he hit some shooting slumps that limited his playing time and, at points, took him out of the starting line up.

Over a four game span in January, for example, Mgbako went 0-19 from 3-point range and failed to reach double digits in any of the four contests. On the year, he finished with 12.2 points per game again, with a slight uptick in his 3-point shooting percentage to 32.9%.

In his Instagram post, Mgbako mentioned that he would be going through the NBA Draft process while also monitoring the situation, like Gabe Cupps did.

Unlike Cupps though, Mgbako’s announcement came after Darian DeVries was formally announced as Indiana’s head coach, so it’s possible he’s met with the staff and is more likely to move on.
