The sophomore guard will explore his options.
Indiana men’s basketball guard Gabe Cupps has announced he will be entering the transfer portal, per a post on his Twitter.

It’s worth noting that Cupps’ announcement leaves the door open for a return to Indiana, pending the results of Indiana’s coaching search. If more Hoosiers hit the portal soon, it wouldn’t be surprising for them to make similar announcements.
Cupps was a four star recruit coming out of high school, forced into a starting role as a freshman when Xavier Johnson went down with an injury. Cupps appeared in 33 games with 22 starts in his first season in Bloomington.
As a freshman, Cupps showed good composure and decision-making, but struggled physically and looked like he needed time to develop before being thrown into the rotation.
With a full college offseason and more guard depth around him to ease him into the game, Cupps appeared poised to take a step forward before an injury ended his sophomore season after just four games.
Because he played so little last year, Cupps should be eligible for a redshirt year, meaning he will have three years of eligibility remaining wherever he ends up.
