Indiana just keeps gaining steam on the recruiting trail, the following photo being among the recent examples:

That’s Jalen Brewster, a 5-star defensive lineman considered to be one of the top prospects in the class of 2027, wearing Hoosiers gear while standing next to head coach Curt Cignetti at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.
He’s not the first big time prospect to visit Bloomington under Cignetti, but any visit from a top-10 prospect matters for the program.
Between staffing and recruiting, Indiana has shown some serious investment in the defensive line under Cignetti. It makes sense, given that’s where football games are typically won, but going after a fish as big as Brewster feels like a bit of a statement.
Indiana needs to upgrade its talent on the lines on both ends of the ball if it wants to compete in the kinds of games it faltered in at Ohio State and Notre Dame. Those programs are the ones that usually end up with guys like Brewster, but Indiana is investing strongly and early here.
Getting a visit isn’t nothing either. Even if it doesn’t bear fruit in Brewster’s recruitment, other blue-chip prospects are probably going to take notice of his interest.
