Owens is rated as a 3-star in the 247Sports Composite and ranks as the 837th best overall prospect, 71st best safety and 95th best prospect in the state of Georgia. His other offers include Texas, Oregon, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Michigan, LSU and Miami. He took an official visit to Bloomington on June 20th and announced his commitment a week later.
He has a nose for the ball from the defensive backfield, willing to deliver a hit after the catch with the awareness to make a play on the ball while it’s still in the air, going for pass breakups or an outright interception. He has the patience and overall awareness to wait for the right play to materialize rather than gamble and risk making a bad possession worse.
