More depth up front for Bryant Haines
Indiana football added another defensive line prospect in the class of 2026 with the commitment of Cameron McHaney, a three-star prospect out of Florida’s IMG Academy. McHaney is defensive coordinator Bryant Haines’ fifth defensive line commitment in 2026.
Before heading to Florida for his final two high school seasons, McHaney was a two-sport athlete at Indianapolis Lutheran, qualifying for state in discus, per 247 sports.
At IMG academy, McHaney tallied 39 tackles, including seven for losses as a junior. 247 Sports has him as the 43rd best defensive line prospect in his class, and the 43rd best high school player in the state of Florida.
Though the defensive front is starting to get crowded in the class of 2026, there are a number of things to like about this commitment.
As both an Indiana and IMG prospect, Indiana is cashing in on a couple of major pipelines here. The Hoosiers were able to beat Purdue and Vanderbilt regionally while also getting a foot in the door at a nationally-known program like IMG.
Indiana has also had success with having multiple stars on the defensive front, featuring both CJ West, a fourth round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, and All-American Mikail Kamara in last year’s elite defense.
With McHaney’s commitment, Cignetti now has 20 players signed for the class of 2026, with class ranked 26th nationally.
