West transferred into the program last Spring after spending the previous four seasons with Kent State and provided an immediate boost to an already strong group. A starter in the middle of Indiana’s defensive line, he contributed 42 total tackles and two sacks with the Hoosiers in 2024. He’s the first Hoosier to be selected in this year’s draft.
A disruptor in the pass and run games, West joins an organization that has leaned on its defense to go on multiple strong runs in the postseason, including to the Super Bowl, in the past several seasons. 49ers owner Jed York tweeted out that San Francisco’s defensive coordinator, Robert Saleh, entered the organization’s draft room shortly before West was selected.
