Indiana will introduce its new head men’s basketball coach in a press conference on Wednesday
Darian DeVries’ introductory press conference as Indiana’s newest men’s basketball coach will take place at 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19.
DeVries was officially hired as the program’s head coach on Tuesday, making it a bit of a quick turnaround time between his hiring and introduction to the fanbase. With the portal set to open in the coming days, it’s important that DeVries get a head start on building next season’s roster.
Expect DeVries, athletic director Scott Dolson and likely IU president Pamela Whitten to make comments at tomorrow’s press conference in a similar format to Curt Cignetti’s introduction as the Hoosiers’ head football coach.
DeVries spent just one year at West Virginia after having spent the previous six years at Drake, his first head coaching job after a long tenure as an assistant at Creighton. He is 169–68 in his career, good for a winning percentage of .713.
He took the Bulldogs to three NCAA Tournaments during his time in Des Moines. Prior to his hiring at West Virginia, DeVries was seen as a rising star in the coaching ranks at the mid-major level.
