He entered the portal after former Xavier head coach Sean Miller left for the head coaching position at Texas. Conwell’s career began at UCF before he transferred to Indiana State and then to Xavier this past offseason. He joined the Musketeers after former Sycamores head coach Josh Schertz took the Saint Louis job.
Conwell is originally from Indianapolis and starred at Pike High School. A 3-star combo guard out of the high school ranks, his offers included South Florida, Appalachian State, Ball State, Eastern Illinois and Evansville.
He averaged 16.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting a stellar 41.2% from deep this past season at Xavier. With Indiana having plenty of spots open along with a need for experience and shooting in the backcourt, it’s easy to see the program recruiting him out of the portal.
