Four-star Christian Jeffrey sees recruiting surge after EYBL Live Period

May 24, 2024 by Zags Blog

By CHARLIE PARENT

INDIANAPOLIS — Christian Jeffrey, a four-star rising senior out of New Heights Lightning, has seen another surge in his recruitment after a strong Nike EYBL Live Period in Indianapolis last weekend.

The 6-foot-3 guard had Michigan and Butler in attendance over the weekend while earning offers from Tennessee, Mississippi State and Sam Houston State after the session.

Jeffrey, who has become the lead ball handler for the Lightning, has boosted the team to a 7-3 start, averaging 12.7 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game. He dropped 22 points in a 69-54 win over Boo Williams AAU to close the weekend.

“It felt good settling into this environment,” he said. “To just show college coaches how me and my teammates improved from last year and how we could fit into their program.”

“I’m trying to show that I can shoot the three-ball more, play good defense and lead my teammates to victory,” he said.

After one season with Mt. Zion Prep (MD.), Jeffrey has made the switch to Overtime Elite for his senior year in order to train for the next level.

“Chris brings organic Brooklyn toughness as a point guard to the OTE culture,” OTE Director of Grassroots Basketball Khalid Greene told ZAGSBLOG. “I look forward to him taking advantage of the robust player development resources that the OTE program has to offer. Chris will ultimately be a steal for any big-time college program because he is a winner, and has been one since he played for my Brooklyn Bridge program in 5th grade.”

Jeffrey is planning visits to Michigan and Butler in June as Dusty May and the new Michigan staff have been after him the most, he says.

Villanova and Marquette also reached out in March, and relations continue to go well.
