SPEEDWAY, Ind. — Indiana Pacers star Pascal Siakam has been announced as the honorary pace car driver on Sunday at the Brickyard 400.
A three-time NBA All-Star and Red Bull athlete, Siakam will drive a 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS and lead the NASCAR field around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This year, the race returns to the iconic 2.5-mile oval track.
Siakam was traded to the Pacers in 2024 after spending eight seasons with the Toronto Raptors and winning a championship in 2019. He is a two-time All-NBA selection and former winner of the league’s Most Improved Player award.
With the Pacers coming off an iconic run to the NBA Finals, race officials said it made perfect sense for one of the team’s stars to join in the Brickyard festivities.
“Basketball and motorsports, Pacers and racers, go hand in hand in Indianapolis,” IMS President J. Douglas Boles said. “Following the Pacers’ electrifying postseason run, it’s only fitting to have Pascal join us to pace the field as NASCAR’s biggest stars compete for the In-Season Challenge.”
The Brickyard 400 is the final race in the five-race NASCAR In-Season Challenge, with the winner taking home a $1 million bonus. The race is scheduled to start at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 27.
