Jake Fischer: There is certainly more dust to settle from Myles Turner landing in Milwaukee, as ESPN reports. I’m being told the big man wanted to remain with the Pacers, who he helped lead to the Finals, but Indiana’s offers for Turner never truly exceeded the three-year, $60 million range.

Myles Turner might be the second-best free agent signing in Bucks’ history.
The best? Brook Lopez, the player he replaces.

Say what you will about Mat Ishbia and the Suns’ aggressive all-in approach (and many of you have, and will continue to), but I can promise you he never would’ve done what the Pacers did with Myles Turner if Phoenix had a competitive team, let alone one that went to the Finals – 1:05 PM

Myles Turner is a good player on a fair deal, but the Bucks mortgaged their future in order to acquire him.
Why waiving-and-stretching Lillard was the wrong move, and what comes next:

The Myles Turner situation is a testament to the idea that almost any move in the NBA is usually theoretically possible if a front office is creative enough and willing to pay a heavy enough price. – 12:51 PM

Tyrese Haliburton and Damian Lillard Achilles injuries altered courses for Pacers and Bucks. Haliburton’s injury gave Pacers pause paying luxury tax and led to them losing Myles Turner to Bucks, who will waive and stretch Dame to add Turner to compete around Giannis Antetokounmpo – 12:20 PM

I wonder if TJ McConnell is gettable now.
The Pacers letting Myles Turner go indicates, aside from the tax stuff of course, that they aren’t super concerned about next season. TJ is 33. We don’t know what he’ll look like when Haliburton is back to full strength. – 12:10 PM

If I were Indiana, I’d just run it back.
A thought that occurs to me if they’re hesitant to pay Myles Turner for any reason: double sign-and-trade with Golden State for Kuminga+picks, then sign Ayton like they tried to in 2022.
Would have to shed other money to make this work. – 11:35 PM

Myles Turner still being out there is odd. They’ve had him forever and they just nearly won a title. What’s up? Are they rethinking their willingness to pay the tax without Haliburton? Are they exploring sign-and-trades? I’ve felt for awhile that Golden State made a lot of sense. – 11:22 PM

More on this storyline
Yossi Gozlan: The Bucks only save $1.3 million here, but Vasilije Micic is reportedly heading back to Europe. He’s expected to give back a significant amount of his $8.1 million salary in a buyout. That should give the Bucks enough cap space to sign Myles Turner. -via x.com / July 1, 2025
Bobby Marks: Give Austin Brown, Turner’s agent, a ton of credit for creating this type of value in one of the most scarce free agent environments. The only team with cap space to sign Turner outright was Brooklyn. Turner lands a monster contract and Milwaukee gets an All-Defensive center to pair with Giannis. -via x.com / July 1, 2025
Bobby Marks: This is a stunning blow to the Eastern Conference Champions, Indiana Pacers. Turner landing in Milwaukee and Indiana not getting anything back in return is critical to a team that was 1 game away from winning the NBA championship. While they now have the $14.1M non tax mid level exception, the market for starting centers is shallow. A Turner signing would have put Indiana in the luxury tax for the first time since 2006. -via x.com / July 1, 2025
