The Indiana Pacers are looking to add their center of the future as NBA trade season opens. Indiana is looking to trade for a long-term replacement for Myles Turner, after losing Turner in free agency this past offseason.
Rumors out of Salt Lake City say that the Pacers have shown interest in Walker Kessler of the Utah Jazz. Kessler is out for the season following shoulder surgery but should be fully recovered by the start of next season. The Jazz and Kessler were unable to reach agreement on a contract extension, which will make the 24-year-old center a restricted free agent this coming offseason.
Indiana has gotten solid play from Jay Huff this season and has also used Isaiah Jackson and Tony Bradley at center. None of those three players are considered viable long-term starting centers, however. The Pacers intend to be back in contention for the NBA Finals when Tyrese Haliburton returns to the court next season.
