NOBLESVILLE, Ind. — The Noblesville Boom unveiled their new mascot during an open scrimmage at The Arena at Innovation Mile Tuesday night.
The name of the Boom’s mascot is Bobby the bobcat. In a press release, the Indiana Pacers’ G League affiliate wrote that “Bobby was chosen for his wild spirit and for being a perfect cousin to beloved mascot Boomer.”
Bobby has brown fur and bright cyan ear accents. He wears a navy Boom jersey, and his number is 00.

“Bobcats are one of the few wildcats native to Indiana,” Ryan Grant, president of business operations for the Noblesville Boom, said via release. “Fast, agile and full of energy, Bobby embodies everything the Boom represent, and his name is a tribute to the great Bobby ‘Slick’ Leonard, whose passion, leadership and love for the game helped define Indiana basketball. We can’t wait for him to become a familiar face at every game and community event, bringing smiles and excitement wherever he goes.”
Guardian Angel Restoration is Bobby the bobcat’s presenting sponsor. The Boom also indicated that Bobby is expected to appear at the team’s home games as well as other community events.
The Boom’s season will tip off on Friday at 7 p.m. in Grand Rapids. The Boom will take on the Grand Rapids Gold at Van Andel Arena.
The Boom’s home-opener is scheduled for Saturday. Much like Friday night, the Boom will again play the Gold at 7 p.m.
