Larry Bird has re-joined the Indiana Pacers.
On Tuesday, the Pacers announced that the former Boston Celtics star, who formerly worked as their head coach and president of basketball operations, is working as a consultant.

Five years after ending his Hall of Fame playing career, Bird became Indiana’s head coach in 1997. He led the Pacers to a 68.7 winning percentage in three seasons, culminating in a 2000 NBA Finals appearance.
Bird resigned in 2000, but later returned as Indiana’s team president in 2003. He was named NBA Executive of the Year following the 2011-12 season.
Bird stepped down in 2017, remaining an adviser until last year. It appears he’s back in Indiana’s front office, but the specifics of his consultant role remain unclear.
Although the Pacers missed the playoffs for the third straight season, they improved to 35-47 during a rebuild. They have the No. 7 pick to draft another young building block alongside Tyrese Haliburton and Bennedict Mathurin.
