Highlights From NBA Media Day

October 1, 2024 by Last Word On Pro Basketball

Today, September 30th marked the end of the slow, dreadful month of September in the NBA calendar. It is media day in the NBA. NBA Media Day exists to give teams and players a platform to interact with the media and fans before the season begins. It allows the press to ask questions about offseason developments, team expectations, and player conditions. It also generates excitement and promotes the upcoming season.

NBA: Highlights From NBA Media Day

— Atlanta Hawks (@ATLHawks) September 30, 2024

Zaccharie Risacher and Trae Young form the new partnership the Hawks hope will yield better results than the past few years.

— Brooklyn Nets (@BrooklynNets) September 30, 2024

Coach Jordi Fernandez will become the 27th coach of the Brooklyn Nets franchise during the 2024-25 season. He has a risky opportunity to start with a young, rebuilding team. Time will tell if he sinks or swims.

— Chicago Bulls (@chicagobulls) September 30, 2024

The Bulls are clearly shifting to a younger core. Seeing Zach LaVine, Coby White, Lonzo Ball, Ayo Dosunmu, and Josh Giddey together in this picture, it’s not hard to imagine how many will remain on the team by the end of the season.

— Indiana Pacers (@Pacers) September 30, 2024

The Pacers surprised everyone, including themselves (though they would deny it), with their run to the Eastern Conference Finals. They hope that a full training camp will help better integrate Pascal Siakam into the team. The Pacers are eager to prove last year was no fluke.

This is the most normal Jimmy Butler we’ve seen in years at NBA media day. The body language expert would say he looks angry or focused—maybe both. Two things can be true.

Not sure who’s more excited for the junior reporter interview, Giannis or the kids. 😂 pic.twitter.com/VqvTl4FHeG

— Milwaukee Bucks (@Bucks) September 30, 2024

Giannis Antetokounmpo has achieved sustained excellence over the past few years. There’s no doubt the Bucks‘ slim title hopes rest on his broad shoulders. Unfortunately, his supporting cast may determine whether this project fails, rather than him.

— Philadelphia 76ers (@sixers) September 30, 2024

The Sixers have assembled another big three with championship aspirations. On paper, Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and Paul George fit perfectly. On the court, it remains to be seen whether they can stay healthy enough during the season to build that crucial chemistry.

hello Media Day, welcome to our crib 🤩 pic.twitter.com/kJS6LlX1AB

— LA Clippers (@LAClippers) September 30, 2024

You’re absolutely right—there’s no way this article would be complete without an Intuit Dome video. This arena could set the blueprint for future basketball arenas.

— NBA (@NBA) September 30, 2024

This moment has been 19 years in the making for Bronny James and 22 years for LeBron James (His career). LeBron and Bronny are closer than ever to becoming the first father-and-son pair to play in an NBA game.

Klay Thompson… NEW BEGINNINGS 🫵@dallasmavs x #NBAMediaDay pic.twitter.com/YX9CX1preR

— NBA (@NBA) September 30, 2024

Klay Thompson was brought in with one goal in mind: to be the last piece of the championship puzzle in Dallas. Will Klay help this team that reached the NBA Finals last year get over the hump? Still too early to tell. One thing is certain though: it is weird to see Klay not in a Warriors jersey.

— OKC THUNDER (@okcthunder) September 30, 2024

The youngest first seed in NBA history had a fantastic offseason, checking every box on their to-do list. Scary days lie ahead, but not for Thunder fans.

— NBA (@NBA) September 30, 2024

Ignore the height difference; this is a match made in heaven. Chris Paul is past his prime, but one thing that ages like fine wine for NBA players is their ability to think the game. That experience and knowledge will be invaluable alongside the Spurs phenom, Victor Wembanyama.

“I’m in the best shape I’ve ever been in.”

This is clearly Anthony Edwards‘ team after the Karl-Anthony Towns trade to the Knicks. Welcome to Ant-mania—grab your popcorn and enjoy the show!

— Sacramento Kings (@SacramentoKings) September 30, 2024

The Kings made a big splash by adding the evergreen DeMar DeRozan. Defensively, there are questions about the fit, but offensively, he raises their floor.

— Golden State Warriors (@warriors) September 30, 2024

Last but definitely not least, a Stephen Curry post—because who knows how many more we’ll get. It’s hard to believe, but this will be Curry’s 16th season.
