Shams Charania: Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo (calf) is rehabbing daily but there’s some real doubt for his status to begin series vs. Pacers on Sunday, sources say. Although Giannis has rare recovery ability, he’s very much up in the air for Game 1.

So @truehoop posted an interesting look at Giannis’ injury today, but the wildest part is definitely David Thorpe calling Giannis “Wilt Chamberlain who can dribble” as an expression of GRAVE DISAPPOINTMENT. This take is truly a work of art… open.substack.com/pub/truehoop/p… pic.twitter.com/RcphR5OfxW – 1:09 PM

Report: “Real doubt” Giannis Antetokounmpo will be available for Game 1 vs. Pacers
Just a reminder, these teams met five times this season and the Pacers went 4-1, it’s a tough matchup for the Bucks.

That Milwaukee Indiana series is intriguing. Haliburton had his way with them, plus remember that Giannis 60-ball (and the controversy on the game ball)…will be fun – 4:18 PM

So after all of that, basically the worst-possible outcome for the Heat.
Now no chance at facing the Giannis-less Bucks in the first round.
If they advance beyond the play-in, it’ll be the Celtics or Knicks. – 3:51 PM

Knicks beat the Bulls, win their fifth straight to take the No. 2 seed from the Bucks.
So it’s a Pacers-Bucks round 1 series.
And Tyrese Haliburton, in his first playoff experience, faces his hometown team.
Giannis’ calf strain is the No. 1 storyline. – 3:49 PM

Doris just suggested that a Knicks win could sway voters to choose Brunson over, wait for it, GIANNIS, for 1st Team All-NBA. You can’t make this up. – 3:24 PM

More on this storyline
Frank Madden: Giannis finishes the year averaging 30.4 ppg and 31.2 pts/36 min — his SIXTH straight year averaging >30 pts/36. No one else has done that more than 4x (some guy named Jordan). Wilt only did it 2x. KD/LeBron never did it. Giannis = one of the most dominant scorers in history. -via Twitter @fmaddenNBA / April 14, 2024
Anthony Chiang: The Bucks are listing Damian Lillard as probable for tomorrow’s game vs. Magic. Khris Middleton expected to be available. Giannis Antetokounmpo remains out. Heat needs Bucks to defeat Magic tomorrow to have a chance to move out of the play-in. -via Twitter @Anthony_Chiang / April 13, 2024
The Bucks have too many talented offensive players higher in the pecking order for Portis to get a chance to put up bigger numbers. With Bucks coach Doc Rivers trying to find enough shots and opportunities for Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard and Khris Middleton, Portis’ role is smaller and more specific than other players coming off the bench. He gets opportunities, but the Bucks have many mouths to feed for Portis to put up numbers that could help him secure the award. “But I’m part of making us good though,” Portis argued. “That’s part of it. I’m part of the script, man.” By this point in the conversation, Portis’ gait has slowed to a shuffle. He’s fully engaged in the debate and trying to get to the truth. Three-time All-Star Khris Middleton, who had been listening to the conversation, is somehow moving fast enough with slides on his feet and ice bags on his knees to pass Portis on his way to the bus, but not without a bit of encouragement first. “Talk your s— then, BP,” Middleton added. “I’m trying to tell him,” Portis replied. -via The Athletic / April 12, 2024
