The Indiana Pacers suffered a tough blow on Wednesday night.

According to ESPN NBA insider Shams Charania, Pacers center James Wiseman has suffered a torn Achilles tendon. The team and Wiseman are working to see how long he’ll be out for and what treatment he’ll need.

This is Wiseman’s first season with the Pacers after spending the last season and a half with the Detroit Pistons. Before that, he was with the Golden State Warriors.

He has played in 148 games, averaging nine points and 5.6 rebounds per game. His best individual season came in 2022-23 when he was with the Pistons, averaging 12.7 points and eight rebounds per game.

Wiseman finished last season averaging six points and one rebound per game in 63 games with the Pistons.

He’s a former second-overall pick by the Warriors in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Memphis.

The Pacers got off to a great start to their season on Wednesday, beating the Pistons by six, 115-109. Myles Turner led the way with 20 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

They’ll play their second game against the New York Knicks on Friday night at Madison Square Garden at 7:30 p.m. ET. ESPN will have national coverage of the game.
