INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana Pacers have acquired the 38th overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft from the San Antonio Spurs.
A report from ESPN’s Shams Charania indicates the Spurs traded pick No. 38 — a second-round selection — to the Pacers in exchange for a future second-round draft pick and cash considerations.
Before the trade, the Pacers only had one pick in this year’s NBA Draft — 54th overall. Without executing another trade, Indiana will not make a selection in the first round of the draft, meaning the Pacers will not actually pick any players until the second round of the draft begins Thursday night.
A few teams have multiple first-round picks in this year’s draft, including the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pelicans have the No. 7 and No. 23 picks in the first round. New Orleans acquired the No. 23 pick via a previous trade with the Pacers.
The Oklahoma City Thunder also have two first-round picks — No. 15 and No. 24. The Brooklyn Nets have a whopping four first-round draft picks — Nos. 8, 19, 26 and 27.
The first and second rounds of the NBA Draft begin at 8 p.m. on both Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
