Aaron Nesmith to be listed as questionable for Game 4

May 27, 2025 by Hoops Hype

Tim Bontemps: Aaron Nesmith will “likely” be listed as a game time decision tomorrow and “probably” will be questionable, per Pacers coach Rick Carlisle, who said Nesmith was “predictably” sore. Nesmith was walking with a noticeable limp in the locker room postgame after an ankle sprain.

Pacers had chances with Brunson and Towns being the defenders in pick-and-roll, and those two deserve credit for holding up in coverage while Indiana is left with deep levels of regret for not burying them. pic.x.com/iiw0P1bsrB – 12:55 AM

Pacers have made at least 9 3s in every playoff game this spring
Knicks foes have made at least 6 3s in every playoff game
Entering 4th quarter, Indiana has made only 4 of 17 3s, and the only 3 they made in the 3rd quarter was by Aaron Nesmith, prior to Nesmith ankle injury. – 10:04 PM

Looks like a right ankle sprain for Aaron Nesmith.
Worth noting that it was Nesmith’s LEFT ankle that ruined the start of his season. – 9:45 PM

Aaron Nesmith hit both fta’s in G2 to get his playoff % over 90, same as regular season %. He’s missed only two fta’s in the playoffs, one of them a meaningless attempt in G1 vs Cavs when Pacers had the game wrapped up with 24 seconds left. – 1:20 AM

More on this storyline

Tony East: Carlisle on Nesmith: His ankle got re-taped. Did his best to keep moving while he was in the back. “Rather than wait, decided the best thing to do was get him back in there so he didn’t stiffen up.” Said he liked his movement and they’ll know more tomorrow. -via x.com / May 25, 2025
Does Van Gundy think the Knicks will let the loss impact them in Game 2? “They’ll look at the mistakes and pick themselves (up) and get ready to go. I don’t think (Knicks head coach Tom Thibodeau) has to worry about (hangover from Wednesday’s loss) at this time of year,” Van Gundy said. “Their pick and roll defense to me, early on in the game, (Karl-Anthony) Towns was really back. (Myles) Turner was just getting wide-open shots. And then they had some miscommunications on perimeter screens; small-small (screens). Are we switching or not? They had breakdowns there. And then late in the game, they were really soft on their switches and (Aaron) Nesmith was hitting threes. To me, they’ve got to clean up their pick-and-roll coverages, being up and more aggressive. And their communication’s got to be a lot better on what they’re doing. “….There was not a hard three in that stretch (of Nesmith’s six threes late in the fourth quarter). It’s still hard to make six straight threes. But it wasn’t like the shot-clock ran down and someone had to throw one in. He got great looks. Nesmith, all five of his looks were great looks. And the one (Tyrese) Haliburton got, (Mikal) Bridges gave him a lot of space on that one, too. They got really good shots. I just thought the Knicks’ defense in that stretch was very soft. And in the overtime, they had breakdowns on (Obi) Toppin’s dunk and (Andrew) Nembhard’s back cut. They just, defensively, didn’t get the job done.” -via SportsNet New York / May 23, 2025
